What is fundraising?
  • Fundraising is raising funds for a cause close to your heart from your friends, family, and colleagues.
Why should I fundraise, when I donate to Team Everest already?
Thank you for being a donor. Yes, you are already a change-maker. But, you can create a 10x impact by being a fundraiser by bringing in more funds
to educate financially poor students.


What support will I get for fundraising from Team Everest?


  • We offer 3 things to support your efforts:
    • You will have a personalized fundraising page, where your friends and family can donate online. So any time you can login and see who has donated.
    • We have made a 'Fundraising Kit' for you. It will have fundraising tips, content and pictures to be posted in Social Media. It will even have message to be sent in Whatsapp and other details.

What is I am the Change Scholarship?


  • Fundraising is raising funds for a cause close to your heart from your friends, family, and colleagues.


How much does it cost to sponsor one student?


  • It costs Rs 42,000 per year. Rs 30,000 is towards college fees and Rs 12,000 is used for the training programs & the material cost. Thus it costs Rs 1,26,000 to make a student graduate as most of them take up 3 years courses.


How long this Scholarship has been happening?


  • We started this initiative in 2016. This is the seventh year of 'I am the change' Scholarship program and we have sponsored 2500 students as part of this 
scholarship till now.


Where is this scholarship happening?


  • The students for this scholarship comes from 3 cities - Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai


How are students selected for the Scholarship?

What do the students receive as part of the Scholarship?


  • The students will get
    • Financial support up to Rs 30,000 per year towards their College fees.
    • Year-long career skills building & employability training.
    • Internship Opportunities with Corporates & Startups.
    • Job Interview Opportunities.


What does Year-long training program include?


  • First Penguin Club: We do a training program called 'First Penguin Club' which is a classroom training aimed at giving employability training to students. It includes 20 training sessions per year on Sundays where we train students on Public speaking, aptitude, and interview skills. During covid, we offered this training virtually.
  • Speak Out: It's an initiative where volunteers teach students through phone calls to improve their communication skills. Volunteers will be tagged to a student to have a 1-to-1 conversation. The idea behind speak out is that when students practice English daily, they can improve on it! All students take up at least 60 speak Out sessions every year.
  • Apart from these two, we conduct several training programs to improve students’ creativity, problem-solving, ethics, moral values, interview skills, and more.


Why this Scholarship is happening only in 3 cities?


  • As we already mentioned, this is not a scholarship with only financial support. We do training, offer internships to students beyond financial assistance. To do that, we need students in one place than scattered across.
  • That's why we take students in clusters in each city so it becomes easy to conduct these training programs.


Which college these students are studying?


  • Our 2500 students (200 students completed graduation) are studying in more than 220+ different colleges. Our students are studying various UG courses in Arts, Engineering, Medicine and Law.

Does the donations made get Tax Exemption?


  • Yes. The donation made is Tax exempted in India, US and UK. Ensure that donors choose the right Tax exemption option while donating. Usually, Give India provides tax exemption receipt to donors within 45 days from the date of donation.


What is the minimum donation amount?


  • Minimum donation amount is Rs. 150


What payment options are available in Fund raising page?


The following payment options are available for Indian citizens and Non - Residential Indian Citizens.
  • Card (MasterCard, Visa, RuPay, Mastero, Amex)
  • Net Banking
  • Wallet (Amazon, PhonePay & more)
  • UPI / QR
  • Pay Later (ePayLater & Simpl)
All others can donate via International card.


Do donors have to give PAN details to make a donation?


  • No, it is optional. But if you require an 80G receipt to claim a tax exemption against your donation, the Government of India has stipulated the PAN has to be mentioned on the receipt.


Can my friends outside India can donate?


  • Yes your friends from any part of the world can donate.


When will I get receipt for my donation?


  • Give India will send you the receipt within 45 days of the donation made. However, the donor will get acknowledgement immediately after they make a donation.


What currencies can a donor donate?


  • Donor can donate in INR, USD and GBP. If the donor is in any other country they can use their international credit card to donate.


Will cash donations be accepted?


  • No, we don’t accept cash donations.


Can my family and friends fundraise with me?


  • Absolutely YES. Your friends, family, and colleagues can help you in your fundraising.


Should I do fundraising for 2 months?


  • We have 2 months' time so that you will have sufficient time to reach out to all your friends. More time you can spend, the more funds you can raise.


What if I cannot raise the full amount?


  • It is absolutely fine. Any amount you raise will help take a student closer to graduation.


Will I get the acknowledgements for the donation made?


  • Yes. Immediately after they donate, they will get an email confirmation from Give India acknowledging the donation they have made to Team Everest.


Does Team Everest has all necessary certifications?


  • Yes. Team Everest is an officially registered Trust. We have all the necessary certifications to function as a trust.


Do I know who my student is?


  • Yes. We let you know which student got benefitted from your fundraising by Dec 2022.


Can I speak or meet the student whom I fundraise for?


  • Yes. Once we tag a student, you can request to connect with your student over call or in person. We facilitate it from our side.


Can I continue fundraising after the deadline?


  • Yes, absolutely. You can extend the date on your fundraising page.
  • Even if you don't extend the date, the fundraising link will be active throughout the year to receive donations.
